About Us

Dr John Gilbert

Trained in the University of Manchester Medical School, qualified in 1976. Though he always intended to end up as a Family Doctor, he took a convoluted route for the first several years, interspersing GP training with detours into aviation and diving medicine, among other things. He finally joined a practice in Somerset in 1986 and spent eight happy but busy years in Taunton where he had particular responsibility for computers and was the in-house specialist in asthma, dermatology and cholesterol. For the last four of those years his practice was deeply involved in the Fundholding revolution and he was also a Police Surgeon. In 1994 he succumbed to a sudden, overwhelming urge to live near his mother-in-law and moved to Malahide. It is his intention to provide the most comprehensive family medical service possible. He now also specialises in the treatment of substance abuse (drug addiction).
